Description of the route:
Park your car in the parking spaces near the Hospice du Petit Saint-Bernard.
The hospice of Petit Saint-Bernard, built in the eleventh century, is the symbol of a long tradition of hospitality. It offers lodging and cover for all passers-by threatened by bad weather. Now restored, the hospice offers an information point as well as an interactive exhibition on the history of the Col. There is a gîte-restaurant on site.
The Joux column located next to the Hospice, is a monolith where at the top sits the statue of St. Bernard of Menthon, patron saint of mountaineers.
From the Hospice du Petit Saint-Bernard, take the path at the back of the building which rises in switchbacks on grassy slopes; follow the direction of Lac Sans Fond (Circuit du Lac Sans fond).
After 1 hour of walking, arrive at a fork; turn left towards Lac Sans Fond (Circuit du Lac Sans Fond).
For the descent, take the same route.
