Map: IGN TOP25R 3534 OTR – Les 3 Vallées Modane – Vanoise National Park
Departure altitude: 2010m
Arrival altitude: 2510m
Elevation gain: 500m
Schedule: 2 hours on the ascent, 1 hour and 15 minutes on the descent

Description of the route:

From the Barmettes refuge, the path passes between two perfectly restored stone walls with a beautiful view of the profile of the Aiguille de la Vanoise (2796m) and the Grande Casse (3855m) in the background.
The path then straightens up to Lac des Vaches. Just before it (at about 2300m altitude), turn left in the direction Col Rosset / Chalet des Gardes.
The chalet that can be seen 130 meters above. The climb is easy to the chalet.
Just behind the chalet, the atmosphere is even wilder and a beautiful flat valley appears: “le Vallonet” on the IGN map. This is where you have to choose for La Séchette or Lac de la Patinoire.
For Lac de la Patinoire, follow the Col Rosset path for a few meters, then crossing the Vallonnet stream bridge, take an obvious path on the right. You arrive in 20/30 minutes at the lake, which will be seen at the last moment.
For the descent, take the same route.
