Via Ferrata Roc du Vent

Practical Information:

Departure altitude: 1813m
Arrival altitude: 2360m
Elevation gain: 547m
Distance: 2000m (1.24 miles)
Difficulty: AD (French Grading System)

Description of the route:

From the parking lot at the refuge of Lai, follow a northerly direction, a path signposted to the foot of the cliff (about 45 minutes).
The Via Ferrata breaks down into two sections. The ascent of the first section is done on large, inclined slabs, reaching the top after about 1 hour; then follow the ridge before descending into a canyon.
The second section begins at the foot of an isolated tower on the other side of the Canyon. Climb the tower and then cross the Nepalese bridge which provides access to the downward path to a tunnel with a length of 100m which ends the via. The tunnel requires flashlight type of equipment.
The Nepalese bridge, the tower and the tunnel are the 3 memorable parts.
At various points of the course, the views of the massif of Mont Blanc and the lakes are stunning and beautiful.
